As part of South Bend Lions’ commitment to coach education, we’re going to be kicking off a series of webinars, starting later this month.
Lions’ Technical Director Thiago Pinto will co-host two special editions of the show with Vince Ganzberg (Education Content Coordinator, United Soccer Coaches) and two good friends of South Bend Lions.
Head Coach of Austin Bold, Marcelo Serrano, will be the guest on Tuesday’s show to evaluate the different motivations people have for coaching, before the Founder and CEO of Six Pack Mental, Pepe Galvan, joins us on Thursday for a session on mental performance.
Former Brazilian soccer player, Marcelo Serrano, has been coaching for almost a decade after starting as an assistant at his nation’s under-15 team. Since then, the 40-year-old has helped manage at club and country in his homeland, building a reputation that speaks for itself; now often found instructing the best coaches in Brazil. This complements his North American experience, having assisted in the USA’s youth setup before being appointed manager of the U.S. Virgin Islands, later taking Austin Bold to the USL Championship play-offs in the club’s inaugural season.
Top performance coach, Pepe Galvan, started Six Pack Mental in October 2016. Since then, the Bethel College graduate has worked with 5,000 satisfied customers, many within soccer, helping to breed successful sports projects from club to international level. 6PM focuses on three specific areas: sports management, mental toughness, and consulting; Galvan drawing on eight years of experience of consulting for MLS, before a stint assisting Las Vegas Lights. In addition, Galvan now shares his knowledge through a variety of platforms such as podcasts and a popular Zero Excuses diary.
